Civic Creator Cohort Hidden from the naked eye is an invisible civic infrastructure of neighbors, businesses, educators, students, artists and other creators of civic culture. According to Peter Kageyama in his book, For the Love of Cities, these co-creators bring together the energy and elements to make a city livable. The Civic Creator Cohort is a four-week series of presentations and conversations with City staff and other civic creators about Norfolk’s civic life. It is designed to be a diverse cohort of 10 to 20 civic creators who are advocating, educating, computer coding, picking up litter, gardening and generally making Norfolk better. The Fall 2023 cohort will experiment with a hybrid format to allow both in-person and virtual participants. It will meet in-person from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Department of Neighborhood Services, 500 E. Main Street, 9th Floor, and virtually via WebEx. Neighborhood Services can validate parking in the Fountain Street Garage, 130 Bank Street. Visit www.norfolk.gov/civiccreators for more information and to apply.
